deleting Google – IMPORTANT

But, RainCoaster … how would that work? – I must delete my entire Google profile; and doing this will delete the new one I just created.
You hit the core of the problem:how does this get done so as not to leave me floating in WordPress cyberspace, alone and uncomforted?

Perhaps register a hotmail or livemail account instead. Then change the email address associated with your account to that. Then what you do with the Google account does not matter.

For more information about what happens to existing Google accounts when one is deleted, I’m going to have to refer you to Google.

I don’t give a rat’s about Google, m’dear: of course you’re right, and I shall set up a Hotmail account.
    Didn’t think of it.
    :-}
    Thanks muchly!

Have set up an outlook.com email address within my WordPress a/c, and am now waiting on its ‘pending’ status to becoming ‘accepted’.
So that’s another thing to add to our files, eh, timethief?
Good on yer, RainCoaster! – and HNY to both of you!!!

    Hellooo?
I can no longer access that little square at the top right of the WordPress bar that tells you when you have a new Comment, or Like, or someone’s just followed you. It keeps telling me that there’s something it wants to tell me; but when I click on it, it just goes in endlessly cycling and doesn’t resolve.
Is this because of my changing my email address?

And not only that: if I like a post on someone’s site, my gravatar doesn’t show.
I’m having some identity problems, here.

We are experiencing some issues with the Likes/Gravatars on posts. It’s intermittent but we are trying to pin that down now.

As for your notifications box, you might try logging out of WordPress.com, clearing your browser cache, and logging back in to see if that fixes things.

It sounds like the Google issue is resolved?

One other tip: we try to tackle forums posts in the order they are posted, oldest ones first. Each time you reply to your own post, it resets the time on the post, so it bumps it forward in our queue, and makes it seem newer than it really is. With that in mind, once it’s modlooked, the best thing to do is to only post again if you have an update to the issue you posted about.

Okey dokey, Jackie – noted. Many thanks.
And yes, I’ve deleted Chrome from my usage list and removed all reference to any gMail account, and am now Firefox person with a second email address from my ISP. Only way. The Chrome problem is all over the world, and everyone’s bitching – not that it has anything to do with you guys …
The Outlook.com address was infuriating, because it set up and entirely different file system within Outlook, and I had two Inboxes. Hence the third email address within a day. As if you care. ;-)

I’m glad it’s (mostly) getting sorted out for you. Free email providers all come with their own issues, don’t they? :)
