Deleting images from media library

Hi. This might sound silly question, but I could’nt find any info about it. My question is: Can I delete images from the wordpress media library even if those images are being used in posts or pages? Do the delete action from the library affect them in the post?

The thing is that I want to free space to optimize the page speed and so on, and I have loads of images in my library. I hope I explained the point proprerly.
    Thanks in advance!

It seems that your site (http://travelmesoftly.com/) is not hosted on WordPress.COM. Your site is hosted on Unified Layer with a software install of WordPress.ORG which means that it is not applicable to this forum.

It would be better suited for you to ask this question at https://WordPress.org/support/ for a more accurate answer. If you don’t have a WordPress.ORG account you’ll need to create one. Your WordPress.COM account won’t work there.

Also, you can read the differences of WordPress.com and WordPress.org.

To quickly answer your question on your WordPress.org site, you can delete it but it will disappear from whichever posts its on. I would suggest to remove media you’re not using instead.

If you need any further assistance, let me know. Thank you for your understanding!
