Deleting Media Files

  Hello everyone,
  I was wondering if anyone knew whether I could delete photos (or other media) from my WordPress library without the pictures vanishing from my blog as well.

  Hello @vyktoryna,
  No there’s no way to do that. When you delete any media they are also deleted from the posts,pages, etc. if you have used them there.

  Once way to tackle this is by hotlinking your images from your Dropbox(or any other cloud service) account, provided you have generated a direct public sharing link for those images. Then use the insert via URL option to add images to your posts.

  In this way, you also save your WordPress.COM server space.

  NOTE: The images will be removed from your post if you remove them from your Dropbox(or any other cloud service) account.
