deleting my account

    Hello – I have been the co admin on 4 sites here, and because of circumstances I am unable to ask any of the others who have shared that with me to remove me from those sites.

    Unfortunately, the way WordPress is set up, I am unable to remove myself as admin from these sites (I cannot understand why this is so – I am not the original owner of any of the sites, and I find it weird that I am reliant on people I am unable to communicate with to free me from being shackled to these sites. I find it odd that as admin however, I can delete the other admins and even delete the owner of the sites, but cannot delete myself).

    This has left me to the conclusion that I need to shut down my account altogether to get out. I have changed my username and email already, so that I do not have to wait 30 days to use them again.

    My question is: if I delete my account, will it harm those sites? Again, I am not the owner, but I am concerned that deleting my account will delete the sites, and that would be devastating for the owner and absolutely *not* what I want to happen. I did little to no content on the sites, just helped to admin.

    To update, when I click on deleting my account permanently, the list of what will be erased includes:

    Personal details
    Domains
    Gravatar

    I personally do not own any of the domains, but again am concerned that erasing my connection to those domains as admin will have a negative effect on the person who does.

    I cannot follow those directions – disconnecting Jetpack will cause problems for them, and I need to repeat that I am unable to be in communication with them to tell them to *reconnect* Jetpack to the sites.

    I can’t understand why I can’t just remove myself from a bad situation without having to contact people with whom there are issues, and that my mere taking care of my own account will have such deleterious repercussions for them.
