deleting my gravatar account

  • Unknown's avatar

Since you won’t let me not connect my gravatar account to a wordpress account (cancel does nothing) I would like to delete my account since I don’t like the picture.

Also don’t like it when websites force you to connect completely unrelated services like that. I think its a rather scumbag move.

The gravatar help page points here now.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

First, WordPress cannot delete your Gravatar account, and your Gravatar can not be deleted completely.
    From Gravatar:
“While you cannot completely delete your profile, you can remove all of your profile information easily through the “Edit My Profile” page, and you can also hide your profile from external access. Visit your profile page (click your name in the top navigation of the website), then click the “Hide My Profile” link in the bottom, right-hand corner.”

You will need to go to (http://en.gravatar.com/) to do this.

Gravatar and WordPress.com are together forever.

After you log into your WordPress.com blog, you can change your gravatar image here > Dashboard > Users > My Profile.

Do note that it will not change instantly because the images are cached and that means it takes time ie. sometimes a couple of days for them to change.

To enable Gravatar display and hovercard display on your blog go to > Settings > Discussion and scroll way done the page to “Avatars”.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatar-hovercards/ That’s also where you can set an maximum rating and default avatar for gravatar display on your blog.

I can’t access my account to do that without them trying to force connect my account to wordpress.

There is a cancel button but it doesn’t work. Also the gravatar help points here as it is currently down.

I made my account years ago so I didn’t agree to this. They are trying to force to to “agree” to the contract by giving me no other option but I know that I shouldn’t do that.

  • Hi there!

When you have a WordPress.com account, that automatically gives you access to a Gravatar account. That makes them, in essence, related to each other. If you’re accessing your Gravatar account for the first time, you will only be asked to login with your WordPress.com details and connect the account. Afterwards, there is no need to re-connect them.

Once logged in, you may change your picture here:

    http://en.gravatar.com/emails/

Can you let me know in what instance were you being asked connect them? If you can share a screenshot of what’s happening, that would help me investigate this further.

    Take a Screenshot

    Thank you!
