Deleting My Site

    Hi There

I’ve been building a website with Weebly but have discovered they cannot use my domain name .co.nz so am using Hostpapa for my hosting and will be rebuilding my website there. Hostpapa use WordPress so I wish to delete my site here so I can use my new business email address, etc for signing in, etc on Hostpapa’s site. BUT I noticed that there is a warning that I’ll be unable to reuse my site address cakeandbakekiwi . Is this correct? Appreciate a reply as soon as possible as I’m hoping to sign up with Hostpapa tomorrow. Am a newbie to all this so hope I’m making sense :-) .

    Kind Regards

Do you mean you want to migrate your site from here (WordPress.com) to the self-hosted version of WordPress on HostPapa’s servers?

Also, if you delete the domain cakeandbakekiwi.wordpress.com, it will be permanently removed and you’ll never be able to re-use its WordPress.com address (cakeandbakekiwi.wordpress.com).

NOTE: WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. More information on what’s different – https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

    Hi Tony

I’m guessing migrating my WordPress.com to the self-hosted version on Hostpapa is what I’ll need to do to keep my Cakeandbakekiwi name within WordPress.

I see you mention that WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities. I’m a newbie to website building so have opted to start my website on the .com platform. Is WordPress.org what Hostpapa use?

And I’m also wondering if I delete my website here at WordPress.com will I then be able to build a new website using cakeandbakekiwi on Hostpapa? …..I’m guessing the answer is yes? I have a UDAI domain code for cakeandbakekiwi.co.nz and will be using this on Hostpapa.

Hope I’m not confusing you, am new to all the technical wording.

    Appreciate your help
    Tracy
