Deleting Old WordPress Site Url

  • How do I upload a screenshot? I thought you couldn’t upload screenshots on here

You can upload screen shots to your site’s media library at My Site ->Media, and I can view it there. I explained this in my earlier reply above when I first requested a screen shot.

I wanna delete my old wordpress site but im afraid to do it? Is there a simple easier way to do so

Which site do you want to delete, and is there an easier way to do what exactly? You can delete a site via My Site ->Settings, and we require you to type in the full address of the site you want to delete as confirmation to prevent accidental deletion of the wrong site.

I uploaded the screenshot of the ads that Im seeing when I use the wordpress on my phone

And they only appear when I use wordpress on my phone? I don’t see them when I use my laptop

  • Thank you for the screen shots.

And where exactly are you seeing those ads? In the WordPress mobile app, or when viewing your site in your mobile browser?

Those also don’t look like pop-up ads. They look like the ads that appear in the website itself, under the post content above the sharing buttons and comments. Pop-up ads will appear over your content, hiding it, and those are not supposed to be on your site. But the ads showing at the bottom of your posts are supposed to be there.

We don’t show those ads to all visitors, all the time, so you won’t always see them, and we show them more often to logged out visitors than to logged in visitors. Based on your screen shots you’re not logged into your account on your phone, which is why you see ads there, but not on your computer where you are logged in.

I ssee them in both. But why do ads have to show. Its kinda annoying

And also I have my blog set up for people to be able to follow it, like comment etc without having to log in?

But someone I know who wants to follow my blog said that when they click to follow it says they have to log in. But I don’t know why because I don’t have it set up like that

  • But why do ads have to show. Its kinda annoying

We provide you hosting for free. But we still need to pay for the servers on which your site’s files are hosted, we need to pay our ISP for bandwidth used, and we need to pay our staff salaries so they can keep creating new features, and maintaining and supporting existing ones. In other words, we display ads on your site to pay for the costs of your site so you don’t have to pay.

If you don’t want ads to show on your site you can buy an upgrade plan instead:

But someone I know who wants to follow my blog said that when they click to follow it says they have to log in.

This is what appears if someone is logged out of your site and clicks the Follow button bottom right:

If they enter their email there they’ll be subscribed to your site without having to create an account.

That person is perhaps clicking the three dots on the button instead of the Follow text, in which case they’ll see this:

Those options will take them to create a new account, so if they just want to follow your site, they should just click the Follow button, instead of expanding the other options.

Lastly, if that person already has a WordPress.com account, they’ll always be prompted to log in first. That’s how it’s supposed to work. Only people without accounts can follow a site without being logged in.

Yes this is what appeared when the person who doesn’t have an account wants to follow my blog. They saw this

    https://cloudup.com/cFzpaeBWg27

But do they have to enter their email address in order to follow my blog or can they follow without having to enter their email address?

But when they clicked on the blue follow widget on the bottom on my site they said that they had to sign up

  • But do they have to enter their email address in order to follow my blog or can they follow without having to enter their email address?

If you don’t have a WordPress.com username account, you need to give an email address to follow the site, yes. Else we won’t know where to send the subscription emails.

They can also follow your blog’s RSS feed directly in any feed reader. That usually works by copy-pasting your site’s link into the feed reader directly, though they’ll need to check the instructions for whatever feed reader they want to use.

But when they clicked on the blue follow widget on the bottom on my site they said that they had to sign up

I think they misunderstood the process. If you enter an email and click on Sign Me Up, you receive an email with a link to confirm the subscription. That email looks like this:

As you can see from that screen shot, you can either just confirm the follow via the button in the email, or you can sign up for a WordPress.com account. But signing up for an account is not required.
