Deleting one blog when you have multiple sites

  If you have multiple blogs and delete one, will the others be affected?

  I have set up multiple blog addresses on the same account and only want to delete a few of them and keep the other ones active. If I delete one, will the other blogs remain intact?

  Hi Tammara :)

  If you delete one blog, the others shouldn’t be affected at all. Just be careful if you have your blogs linked together in any way (hyperlinks on one of the blogs you’re keeping to one of the blogs that you’re deleting, for instance), as these will no longer work.

  All blogs are independent websites so what you do one one has no effects on any others. To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.

  Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

  Alternatively, to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting a blog or blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 see https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1663419?hl=en
