Deleting one site out of three
-
I have three sites/blogs/whatever through WordPress.com – they are all on the same account (tamsensb.wordpress.com). I originally wanted to *rename* the URL for one of the sites – from whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com to whimsiesbytamsen.wordpress.com. Apparently, I accidentally created a *new* site instead of just renaming the old site.
Some of my pictures weren’t showing up on my new site. Thanks to one of the forum readers, I found out that they were still on whimsiesmasks. So I manually had to re-add about 128 pictures. Now, I *think* everything is off of whimsiesmasks, but I’m afraid to delete it, because I can’t bear the thought of reloading thousands of pictures if I’m wrong.
Can you help me with this dilemma? Does deleting a site *only* delete that one particular site, or does it delete the whole set of sites on my account. I looked at the help topics, but the answer wasn’t a hundred percent clear to me.
I want to delete whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com (*IF* it’s empty of all data, which I can’t tell for sure).
I absolutely want to *keep* tamsensb.wordpress.com and whimsiesbytamsen.wordpress.com (which should have my media library on it, but again, I’m not actually sure *where* it is).
I apologize, but I’m pretty new to all of this stuff. Thank you for any help you can give me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

All blogs are independent websites so what you do one one has no effects on any others. To delete a free hosted WordPress.COM blog you must be logged in under the exact same username account that registered a blog to delete the blog. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.

Thank you for your email. As far as I know, I did everything properly. I was very careful to specify that it was Whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com that I wanted to delete. But when the confirmation email arrived, it listed whimsiesbytamsen.wordpress.com as the site it was about to delete. Well, obviously, I am not clicking that final delete button! That’s the site I want to keep! But I don’t know what I did wrong. I have looked through my Back button to make sure I was on the right site when I went to delete the site, and I was. So, I’m really confused.

Howdy!
I think part of the confusion here is that the site you want to delete at whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com also has the site title of “Whimsies by tamsen”.
When you delete whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com, it will not effect whimsiesbytamsen.wordpress.com at all.
Just to be safe, why don’t you visit the General Settings at whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com here:
https://whimsiesmasks.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
And change the site title to something completely different, like “about to be deleted” and save those changes.
Then, still at whimsiesmasks — go through the Delete Site tool again. It should be more clear this time that you’re deleting the site you intend.
Another good option if deleting it is worrying, is to just set it to private, where no one will see it:

That’s actually what I personally do when I’m done with a URL.
