Deleting or Blocking Followers

Is there a way to delete and/or block followers?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. Everyone on the internet can view and follow any public blog. That is in fact what the public designation means.
You can change your blog visibility to “private” http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ Please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/
Note that you have complete control over everything that’s posted to your blog.

I know how to block comments – I must approve them. I’m interested deleting and blocking some followers. Is there a way to do this? Only a couple of knuckleheads I’d like to delete. Thank you.

No there is not and you’re welcome.

It’s unfortunate we don’t have this ability (to block members) when spammers like http://creditcardandfinance2020.wordpress.com/ are clearly taking advantage of this “public” setting. We should not have to carry and share other people’s business cards if we don’t want to, and that is effectively what is going on.

@raincoaster. First, thank you for being a very active and informative member of these forums. But… with whatever recent changes were made, I am now getting 5-10 new subscribers a day (and I know TONS of other bloggers saying the same thing). I’m not particularly interested in spending time trying to figure out which are spammers (most) and which are legitimate followers. Seems like a large portion of the new followers aren’t even in English anyhow! So now we’re being asked to check every new subscription and report SPAM every day? WP needs to take this seriously and fix whatever started this whole mess. This was not happening until a few weeks ago. In the past I would get new subscribers when I posted something interesting and tagged it well, maybe it got reblogged here and there. As important as I might like to think I am, these new subscribers, if you can even call them that aren’t interested in reading my blog.
