Deleting original Admin user from blog
-
So we just started a communal blog, but I don’t like having the original username as an active user. If I created hockeyprotip.wordpress.com as a new user and blog, and added a handful of other people (including myself with Admin access under my personal account) can we remove the original hockeyprotip user so it doesn’t linger like a dead fish on our blog?

Yes, you can. Just make another user an admin, login as the new user and delete the old admin. Be sure to transfer the posts and content properly during the old admin deletion.

Already set everything up since I assumed it was possible, but wanted confirmation so as not to nuke our work, haha. Thanks so much!

Okay, well, I tried to delete the original admin from my account (with admin permissions), from the original admin account itself, and then tried downgrading the account to something lower from both, and none of that was allowed… I’m confused!

You cannot delete an account, ever. But you can remove that account from the blog. Is that what you want to do? beemeister gave the instructions for that.

This has been changed. No-one can remove the original admin.
You need to contact Support requesting this. The email address used should match the email address of the person being removed from the blog. If there is no matching email (and simply telling us the email is not going to work) then the original user stays where they are. -

I agree, good policy, and it’s not like its an emergency, just wanting to clean up the users since we won’t be posting anything under that username. Thanks much.
