deleting photo from gallery

I’ve read the directions but still can’t figure out how to use a photo at the beginning of an entry and keep it out of a slideshow at the conclusion of the post. I’m referring to my posts “City of Eternal Spring” and “Day and Night in Medellin.” In each one, an intro photo also appears in the slideshow. Thanks for your help.

The WP slideshow displays all the images “attached” to the post, that is, uploaded via the Add an Image tool of that post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/slideshows/
Can I exclude certain images from a slideshow?
No. Currently the slideshow will only display all photos attached to a post. How can I display an image in the same Post or Page without it being a part of the Gallery?
… the ability to exclude photos from the Gallery by ID number, you can now insert a photo uploaded to the same Post or Page where a Gallery was uploaded by first excluding the photo from the Gallery by ID number, as described above, and then inserting the photo in your Post or Page from the Editor’s Upload/Insert Image button>> Image Uploader Media Library tab. -
In order to keep an image out of a slideshow, you must attach it to another post or to a draft post. Even if you don’t include that image in the draft (or other published post) it will be attached to that one.
All images uploaded (and therefore attached) to a post will appear in the slideshow. At this time there is no way to exclude pictures from the slideshow shortcode.
(note, pictures can be excluded from the gallery shortcode)

After uploading your image to a different post or page that doesn’t have a Gallery or Slideshow attached to it, you can back out of the post you uploaded the image to, and go back and insert it by URL in the post where you want it to appear. This will keep it out of the slideshow.
