deleting photos from media library

  • Unknown's avatar

An error message came up when I tried to upload photos to my media library today, saying there was no space left.
I tried to delete old photos which are not needed anymore and every time I delete them they appear again, even copies of photos appear.
How do I get around this?
    Many thanks
    Agnes

It used to be that the images were cached, so it might take a few days for them to completely disappear.

    Thank you Bruceallen.
You make mistakes and you learn, and I have just done that, after I posted my blog I found how I could bulk delete and started to do so, I deleted a whole month, the first month I started my blog last August! Never did I realise that the photos would also disappear from my blog entries, I thought they would only be deleted from the media library, so I ended up with writing and no photos, photos are most important in my blog. I now understand and have learnt something at least.
What is my next step now, do I add a new blog so I can keep going?
    Many thanks, Agnes

You can purchase a space upgrade that will increase your graphic storage space. When adding photos it is recommended that you edit the image to optimum size. There are several free photo editing programs available to help you do that. Using full-sized photos and other graphics will eat up space quickly.

Your second question suggests one possible free solution, at least temporarily. You could create a separate blog solely for the purpose of holding images, which you may then copy and paste into posts or pages of the primary blog. If you don’t want this other blog to be indexed by Google and other search engines, set its visibility to “Discourage search engines from indexing this site.” Don’t set it on private, as that will prevent the images from being seen on the primary blog.
