Deleting post after it's published

    Hello All,
I accidentally hit ‘Publish’ on one of my drafts before I actually finished it so I deleted it in a hurry but now I’m wondering if my followers will all get an email notification about it? Even though it technically now it isn’t on my website and wasn’t finished in the first place? If this is the case, what should I do?

    Hi,

This unhappy situation has happened to me several times over the past eight years. There’s nothing you can do to reverse the sending of the notifications of course. You may consider changing the status of the post back to published again, adding a note at the top perhaps, explaining the publishing error, why it was immediately deleted, and that it is presently incomplete and that you’ll complete it as soon as possible.

If, on the other hand, you decide to wait until it’s ready for publication before republishing it, your followers may have already tried the link by the time you’ve done so and found nothing there. A couple of times I have published another brief post apologizing for the previous post which has now been deleted, explaining my reasons for doing so.
