deleting/removing site from wordpress.com account

    Hello,
I am a developer with a design agency, I am putting together an ecommerce site for a client using WooCommerce. We already had the site created on our servers and I created a wordpress.com account in order to add a plugin for payment processing. Anyway, I’m going to need to remove this site from my WordPress.com account, or transfer it to the client’s WordPress.com account because they are the ones who will be managing it.
I was going to delete the site from my WordPress.com account dashboard, but I just wanted to make sure that it won’t actually delete the site from our servers or make it inaccessible in any way. Should I instead transfer the wordpress.com site over to the client’s account? I’m not even sure I need this to be on WordPress.com seeing as though they have their own service for their payment gateway.

    WP.com: Unknown
    Jetpack: Yes
    Correct account: Yes

  • Hi,

Yes, you can disconnect Jetpack from your own account and then just have the client reconnect it with their account. No, disconnecting will have no effect on the data stored on your server.

I didn’t interact with Jetpack, though.
Can you tell me how I can disconnect, please?

  • Hi there,

To disconnect Jetpack, go to Settings ->General here on WordPress.com, and click on Manage your connection right at the bottom. On the next screen you’ll see an option to disconnect Jetpack.

Alternatively you’ll also find that option under Jetpack ->Dashboard in WP-Admin. That’s also where your client will have to go to reconnect Jetpack to their own WordPress.com account.

You can find Jetpack’s documentation about this here:
