Deleting Sidebar Items (Sweet Blossoms)

Help! I am brand new to WordPress and am a little confused. I want to get rid of the “Categories”, “Links”, and “Meta” headings and therefore the links underneath on my profile! How do I do this?

Maybe even the calendar too, it’s kind of ugly.

    HELP! :)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In your “Dashboard” you’ll find a link to the “Widgets” page. You can remove or add any of the widgets available to you — Calender, Meta, Links are some of them. To get rid of a widget just click on it so it opens, then click on the “Remove” button. At the bottom of the page you’ll see a “Save Changes” button, click on that and reload your blog. The widget should be gone. However, it’s my understanding each theme has a default set of widgets, so you can’t go widget free…

    Hope it helps.

    Good luck with school.

@pinkrachel: the theme you’ve chosen isn’t widget-aware; that means you cannot change what is displayed in the sidebar.

If you switch to a widget-aware theme (very few aren’t), note that each theme initially displays a small default set of sidebar items. To get rid of some of those, you go to Appearance>Widgets and add the ones you really want: once you add any widget yourself, the default set is cancelled.

@feartheseeds: so the way to go completely “widget free” is add an empty text or RSS widget.
