Deleting Site and Domain

  Hi,

  I wanted to delete my worpress.com site and also cancel the domain I bought trough worpress.com. I did the procedures from the settings, yet the domain stays as taken. Should I wait some more days, so it can be free again or it stays not available for the whole period for which I paid?

  Hi there,

  Were you wanting to re-register the domain at a different host? There is no guarantee that you will be able to reacquire it in the future. Someone else could gain access to it.

  If you want to keep using your domain but you don’t want to use WordPress.com anymore, you don’t have to cancel it. Instead, you can move the domain to another site, using the Domain Administration tool under Store > Domains, at the bottom of the page. I could see if I can retrieve your domain if that is what you’re trying to do.

  Hi,
  I wanted to transfer the domain to another Host, which is using cPanel, so that I can use wordpress.org. I have the hosting there and I want to use my domain on the new host. I tried to move it but it did not work that’s why I decided to simply delete it and start it all as new.

  What will be the easiest why for me to do it?

  The easiest way for you to move your domain over to a new host is for us to try to retrieve it and then transferring the domain to your new host:

  Let me know and I’ll contact our registrar and see if we can retrieve the custom domain.

  Ok. It will be great and I will try to move it successfully. Can you give me some more information what is required after so I can get access to the domain and it will stop redirecting to wordpress.com?

  I have contacted our registrar to see if we can retrieve virtusquest.org from them. I’ll let you know once I hear from them.

  So that the domain no longer directs to WordPress.com, you can transfer it to your new host by following these instructions:
