Deleting site – no confirmation email

I’m trying to delete my site but have not received a confirmation email yet. Yes, I changed my email address and made sure I’m using a correct one.

While you’re waiting, you have the option to restrict access by making the site private.

Thank you. I’ve checked those folders and am at a loss to what could have happened to the email.
We’ve launched a new site and are being told that our wordpress site continues to come up instead. That’s why I thought we should completely delete it. -
a) Do you mean that your wordpress site comes up when people type in your new site’s url, http://www.shessomebodysdaughter.org/? That seems unlikely because your url is working fine, but if your domain was previously mapped to the wordpress site, maybe clearing their browser cache will work.
b) Or do you mean that your wordpress site comes up in search engine listings? Once you remove your site from their access by deleting it or by making it private, search engines will stop indexing it but it takes a little while to disappear from listings.
Another option is to purchase a site redirect, so that any traffic that accidentally comes to the old site will be redirected to the new.
In any case, I would recommend that you make your site private instead of deleting it, because deletion is really, really final. If you make it private, you can keep it as a backup of your old site and will still have ownership of the url just in case.

Thank you! I made it private and created a static page directing anyone to the new site. You have been very helpful and I appreciate your advice to delete permanently. Still don’t know what every happened to the confirmation email but I suppose it was meant to be that I didn’t receive it! Thank you again and Happy Thanksgiving! :)
