Deleting Sites with Upgrades
-
I’m trying to delete my wordpress blog and I’m told I can’t cancel it as I have premium upgrades. I’ve followed the instructions on how to cancel these, but I can’t seem to do it. There doesn’t seem to be a ‘cancel upgrades’ option. Can anyone advise?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It seems you have an upgrade of some kind such as a premium theme and they have to be transferred or removed by Staff before the site can be deleted. Deleting a site with upgrades https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/#deleting%C2%A0a-site-with-upgrades
I will type modlook into the sidebar tags on this thread for a Staff follow-up. That site is owned by another user, and the upgrades on it are owned by another user still. Do you have access to all of those accounts, or are you in touch with the owners?
-
Yes – I can get access to these accounts – do they have to delete it themselves? I’m in touch with the people who originally set up the blog.

@buildingbuddhism the upgrade owner would need to remove the upgrades. Then the site owner can remove the site.
Please be advised you won’t be able to use the name again. It does not “free up” the address.

Hi, Thanks for your help. Apparently the person who first set up the upgrades no longer has any access to the account. Is there any way that the site can be cancelled anyway? We know that we won’t be able to use the address again (well, actually, we’ve transferred the domain name to a new host).

@buildingbuddhism OK. Here’s what I’d do:
– Wait for the domain mapping upgrade to expire. It’ll be removed automatically
– Makes the site private via https://wordpress.com/settings
Cheers :)

I should mention, in the meantime, any requests to the wordpress.com address will be forwarded to the site at your new server. I hope that helps.
