Deleting unattached images in Media Library
-
Why do the images from posts remain ‘unattached’ in the the media library? Can I delete these to save space? Or will they get deleted from my blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you’ve inserted them into a post, they are not Unattached. Only images that are not in posts are Unattached. If you’re not using them in Custom Design or a widget, then yes, you can delete them to save space.

That’s what I’m finding odd. I know these images are definitely in the post, but they still say unattached so I don’t know if it’s ok to delete them…

I wouldn’t. If you’re uploading properly optimized images, you should never run out of space. 3G is a huge amount.

Seems the OP is not optimizing images before uploading. Just one photo in the post chocolate chip cookies post is 3.5M, which is a huge waste of space for an image which displays at 640 pixels wide. Optimize before you upload! http://en.support.wordpress.com/media/image-optimization/ or at least use JPEGMini before you upload! http://www.jpegmini.com/
Just FYI unattached images also includes headers, backgrounds and even screenshots you may have posted in the forums.
