Deleting wordpress account

  Hi.

  I had purchased a domain about a few months ago and created a website on wordpress, http://www.soulziv.com. However, before having prepared this website, I had a free website on wordpress http://www.soulziv.wordpress.com which is showing up when I do the admin login via http://www.soulziv.com and open wordpress website to check stats and others. Since soulziv.com and soulziv.wordpress.com seem to be interlinked, I was wondering if I can delete soulziv.wordpress.com without having any impact of the same on soulziv.com. Because I do not want wordpress website to direct me to my older website which was made for free (since now I have soulziv.com, I do not need soulziv.wordpress.com anymore).

  Please let me know what steps are needed to be taken further.

  Hi Team Soul Ziv,

  It seems http://soulziv.com/ and https://soulziv.wordpress.com/ are two different sites.

  The short answer is: if you don’t want to keep anything from https://soulziv.wordpress.com/, you can safely delete it:

  Delete a website

  Now the longer answer. 🙂

  From what I understand, you bought the domain soulziv.com at Go Daddy, and then mapped it to WordPress.com, but not “on top” of the domain soulziv.wordpress.com.

  If you open your Domains settings (https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/soulziv.com), there should be a site ending with .wordpress.com (but not soulziv.wordpress.com).

  The cleaner way would be to have https://soulziv.wordpress.com/ automatically redirect to http://soulziv.com/. In order to do that, you would have to:

  1. Go to https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/soulziv.wordpress.com/edit/soulziv.wordpress.com and change the address to something else
  2. Go to https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/soulziv.com, click on the address with .wordpress.com and change it to soulziv.wordpress.com

  And that should work. 🤔
