Deleting/editing the Footers
-
I want to edit the footers on my blog. right now the footers have advertisements on them: Blog at WordPress.com. • Customized Chalkboard Theme.
I paid to not have advertisements on the blog. I just want to edit those out and put my own footer in. The CMS does not allow me to do that. Please let me know what to do. Thank you.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
That text isn’t considered advertising, and is required to be displayed according to our terms of service:
http://en.wordpress.com/tos/Note that even sites hosted through our VIP program, such as the TED blog, display a credit to WordPress.com in the footer.
Let me know if you have any additional questions about this.

That is too bad. It really looks terrible and will make the site look unauthoritative. why does it advertise the theme as well – it is really awful for any degree of credibility. Do I need to have the blog hosted on my own and get a custom theme or something like that?

The credit on Ted looks professional and does not advertise a theme though. Is there a way to get the theme advertisement off? Also – there does not seem to be a way for me to put in my own footer….only headers.

If you have a self-hosted blog using the free WordPress software (from WordPress.org), you have full control over your blog’s layout and can fully customize your theme’s footer. If you’re interested, you can read more about the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
If you think a self-hosted WordPress blog is a better choice for you, we have a guide for moving your blog here: Moving a Blog

As mentioned in our Terms of Service, the footer credit (including the theme credit) may not be altered. However, some themes do include an additional space in the footer where you can add your own widgets. If that’s something you’d like, I recommend checking out themes like Blaskan or Minimalizine.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)
