Is it possible to delete or unsubscribe nuisance followers? Thanks for your advice

Hi Richard,
Since your blog is set to public, it’s possible for any reader to follow your blog. It wouldn’t be possible to delete a follower, but if you wanted to control who views your site you can set your blog to private by going to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard. Next to Site Visibility, select I would like my site to be private, visible only to users I choose. Then you can personally invite just the people you want to view your site.
Just note even if we were able to remove the follower, they would still be able to view your site at any time if it’s public.
If you are having issues with a particular user leaving un-wanted comments on your site, you can moderate that by going to Settings > Discussion in your Dashboard. Enter their email address and their username, which will automatically send their comment to moderation so it won’t appear on the blog.

It’s as I thought but wanted to know any way around this. The person in question likes to send critical emails now and again as we knew each other years ago. I’d wondered if I could add more clout to simply saying he’s free to unsubscribe at anytime and dip in whenever he wishes. (It may be worth encouraging him to contribute openly and generate discussion from others, but that would require time I don’t have as a moderator.)
