Deletion of old blog only

  • Unknown's avatar

A search of my old blog name of ‘Bemused’ brings the searcher to my new name of ‘Bewildered’. I would like this to not happen. I deleted all the posts, etc from the Bemused site and changed the pertinent information to create the new blog. Do I have to delete my account and start over? I just want a fresh start.

    Hey there,

Can you share the URL for the website so that the team can investigate further?

    bonimiss.worpress.com – Bewildered Wanderings : new site

bonbon.kinky-blogging.com – Bemused Enlightenment : old site. It was hosted on another server.

Within WordPress, I can’t seem to find reference to Bemused site.

    Thanks.

  • Hi there,

Since the site was not hosted on WordPress.com, there isn’t anything we could do on our end. Even if it were hosted with us, it is ultimately up to Google to remove the content from their search index.

I would take a look at their support link and reach out to them regarding getting the content removed.

You can try requesting removal from Google by following the instructions here:

    http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=92865

Google also provides information and tools for webmasters, you might find further information on their tools here:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks!

I cannot prove ownership of that url so I doubt Google will remove it but I will try.

Another variation on the same question. If I delete my account for bonimiss and then wait the 30 days, can I recreate the account using bonimiss and start over completely?

Another problem is I am trying to sign up for the new to blogging course and I get a message in Safari. Safari can’t open the page “https??wpcourses.com/?utm_source=blog&utm_medicum=organic_social_media&utm_campaign+launch_2020&flags ….” Load cannot follow more than 20 misdirections.

Is this course no longer offered?

  • If you wanted to use the same username, no that wouldn’t work — deleting it makes that name unusable.

Just to clarify though, when you do the google search and find links to the old site that is deleted, is it just google cache you’re seeing, or something else? If it’s cache for the deleted site, I’d try this anyway:
    https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/1663691?hl=en
    https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/url-removal?pli=1

If it’s something else entirely, would you consider getting a screenshot of the search result and uploading it to https://wordpress.com/media so we have a clearer idea of what you’re seeing?

And, regarding the courses, are you using this link?
    https://wpcourses.com/

First thank you for the link to the course. I am still finding my way around WordPress and I could not find the courses.

I uploaded the file to the media page for my blog as directed. The first 2 entries are showing up in WordPress. I can’t find out how to get rid of them. The second 2 are the defunct site in Google. I submitted a request for these to be removed. Hopefully they will take it out of the search results. Thank you for that information.

Can the first 2 search results be removed somehow?

  • The site is hidden from search engines, so Google will eventually remove all entries for it from its index.

We don’t have any direct control over the process at this point though, it’s up to Google.
