Del.icio.us Help
-
I would like to add the del.icio.us feature to my blog as it is here at this blog in the right column:
http://oldpathsfamilyfarm.net/blog/I have signed up for del.icio.us and have added it to my sidebar via the widget provided by WP. It looks very sloppy. I have removed it now. There wasn’t any space or bullet to separate the headlines and the notes were not included.
I would like to use this feature but I cannot find out how to make it look neater. I have searched through the help features at del.icio.us and in the LinkRolls I can use the settings to get it how I want it in the preview. I just can’t find the code to get it to look like that at my blog.
Can anyone help?
Thanks~

Sorry, I went to the site listed and saw that there is no “del.icio.us” listed so at first glance you don’t see it. It is in the right column, the 4th section down called “My Online Travels”.
I have no code to post. That is something I’d like to find. The del.icio.us “help” pages seem to require much more familiarity with css and html than I am familiar with.
Thank you

Oops, You’re talking about the delicious widget that is in the available widgets here, right?
-
Yes, that’s the widget I used that looked terribly sloppy. I figured that there must be a setting at del.icio.us but I couldn’t find anywhere there to made adjustments. This is why I assume that there must be another way to make it look neater – they want people to use this feature, right? Their help section was either “over my head” or not what I was looking for. I sent in a question there but have not rec’d any response.

OK, that was created using a text widget with a link in it. Below is the code you can use and just substitute what your delicious URL and the text you want to appear in the text widget. I have the code set up so that it uses center alignment.
<p align="center"><a href="put your delicious link here between the quote marks">put the text you want to use here</a></p>For reference:

I messed up on the reference links, one of them should be this: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/how-to-write-links/

I can add links in text boxes but I don’t know how to add any code that will reflect the updated delicious headlines. If I had to change the code with every article then there’s no point in using their feature since I could do that on my own on a regular basis (and in reality, I wouldn’t). I’d like to have the headlines and notes shown as opposed to just a link to the del.icio.us site.
I’m heading over to the link posed last…
Thanks

What I’m looking for is a way to have the del.icio.us info posted in the sidebar where each entry is separated by a bullet and/or a space (to show that they are separate items rather than one long string of words). I’d like to have the notes show as well but that’s not too important to me really.
I thought it might be my Safari not displaying the page properly so when I went to the library to view it, it was the same.
I can re-load the widget at my blog to show you what I get and if you’ve seen the site I listed above, you will see the difference between the two. On my blog it’s called “Web Wanderings” and it’s below the “Resource Disclaimer” on the right side.

The only del.icio.us link is the one that says “looking for an old link (click here)” The “categories” listed below it are from the “categories” widget and list the post on the blog that are associated with the particular categories. The “looking…” link takes you to a del.icio.us page offsite.

I reloaded the widget at my blog and it does the same – the links take you directly to the articles listed. Do you see the articles listed under “My Online Travels” with the first one listed: “Joys in the Journey: The Herbal Home: Toilets” with the note below? Below her del.icio.us feature is the list of the categories she has at her own blog. Yes, the “looking for an old link” is the only clue that it’s a del.icio.us feature. I can get the same preview at the Link Roll section within del.icio.us but I cannot find where any code would be made available with that preview. It says: “» The preview to the right is not how your bookmarks will look once on your website. They should blend in and adopt the look of your site, being ideally suited to such places as weblog sidebars”
So how do I get it to blend in and look better? That’s my hunt tonight. :) Thanks for all your help. I do appreciate it.

I just loaded it as an RSS feed and I like that much better. But I’d still like the ability to have each entry separated by a bullet in order to clean it up.
-
Yeah, OK I see what you mean. Again, since they are self-hosted they have more freedom. They are using a del.icio.us widget, just one that is not available here at wordpress.com.
-
Whether they have bullets or not, is in the coding of the widgets themselves or in the html of the theme which we cannot access or alter.

Gotcha. I really appreciate your walking with me through this. :) Otherwise I’d still be sitting here scratching my head. Thanx.
