del.ic.ious on sidebar – how to display notes

    Hi there, I would like to add the notes to the del.icio.us links on my sidebar like the ones on Iheartpgh.com.

    Let’s try this again.

    A couple of quick asides first though:

    You’re missing the closing span tag in this post. That’s why the rest of your blog is in italics.

    Your pic in this post is too wide for your blog. I don’t know if that matters to you but I just wanted to make sure you were aware of it. That’s why the sidebar is dropping down.

    Blogs filled with affliate links are not allowed. Corporate blogs with information about their company that include actual content is fine though.

    You may want to ditch the frame as it’s going to throw of the search engines and their results. It’s $10 a year to assign the url in your post to your blog and all you ahve to do on your end is a simple CNAME. (At least that’s how staff explains it to me. I haven’t done it yet myself)

    If you say “Please do a search” and the poster says “I’ve already done one” please don’t say do a search again. :)

    But to answer the question:

    The cloest I can come is actually not use the del.icio.us widget but the RSS widget and the RSS feed from your del.icio.us page. It would actually display the notes for the link but it will display the notes if you do a mouseover over the link.

    Not sure how quickly you’re going to be back but I’ve put up examples of both on one of my . The first bit along the left hand side is the del.icio.us widget while the second one is the RSS widget. I do hope you’ll notice the difference if you do a mouseover.

    Changing the way the widgets work is not something we can do here at wp.com sincew we’re on a shared environment. if you made changed, you would be doing so to everybody else and they would be doing the same to you. You could of couse make the changes that you wanted if you grabbed the download version of the software from http://wordpress.org and installed it alongside your actual website.
