Del.icio.us widget breaking links
-
Links from the del.icio.us widget on WordPress are breaking URLs by inserting the string “amp;” somewhere in the middle. E.g. the url should be:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=498
…but somehow it gets changed to:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=498
The link directly from del.icio.us works fine.
http://del.icio.us/Mahogany_Finish
I tried working around it by using an RSS widget using the direct DIU feed, but for some reason the widget itself doesn’t show up *at all* in my sidebar.

Made a mistake. To clarify, this is what the actual URL is being changed to:
http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=498 -
Alright, this is making me angry. The “amp;” is showing up between “blog&” and “bid.” I don’t know why the post is automatically changing it.

I am using Safari 3 on Mac OS X 10.5.2. It comes up with an Error 404 when I follow the URL from my blog (DIU widget) but not from any other source. The only difference in the two URLs is “amp;”.

You are right, just tried it out in Safari and Firefox using your del.icio.us username and the URL doesn’t work in either cases. This should be reported to support, as it seems to be a problem with the url encoding -> http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

I have trouble sticking around for support 8-4 PST because of work. Does someone know how to fix this? Or will I just have to live with it.

You need to contact support. None of the volunteers can change the way the widgets handle links. Only staff can.
-
I’m looking here for a fix I can perform. If this is a legitimate bug, I’ll drop it (I’ve already sent in a ticket to support), otherwise I need a workaround.
-
There are none as far as we know; if someone did know one, they’d have posted it already.

wondrous, if you have a look at this link: http://feeds.delicious.com/feeds/json/mahogany_finish you’ll find out that it’s del.icio.us that sends the URLs like that.
Either you contact de.icio.us support and point to the mistake or you write wordpress.com support to add a workaround in the widget. “Normal” wordpress.com users can’t do anything about it, because we are not allowed to use javascript.
