Demote Administrator?

  How do I demote an administrator? I run a blog for a club on campus and as the new President I would like to demote the old president to “contributor”. We have both tried and it gives us a notice that says “Cannot edit user.” Is there a way around this?

  Note that all blogs have a single owner and it is the person with the username account that registered the blog. The blog owner can demote other users and even transfer a blog to another username account.
