Depo Masthead Alignment problem
-
Hello,
I am having some alignment problems with this theme I am using for my online boutique: http://purpleme.wordpress.com/
My images and text have all been pushed into a left column, whereas before it fit perfectly centered in the middle of the page. I’ve done some trial and error, but it seems like this problem is only applying to the front page, where all of the pg’s contents are squeezed into one column to the left. When the page is in edit mode, it looks like the way I want but it is all distorted when I view it live.
I have set a static page for the front pg display (rather than the latest post option). Can someone please help?
Thanks!
JinnyThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The W3C validator is showing 40 errors on your main page.
Go to settings > writing and click “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and click save change.
Next open at least your last three posts in the editor and make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it and then click “update post. Hopefully that should automatically fix the issues for you.

I just tried this, and the front pg still forces everything into one left column. Would size of post box have anything to do with it? (I have it at 50 lines).
Thanks!

No. It appears as if you have a static page set as your main page (settings > reading) is that correct?

I just looked at the source code for that page and it is a royal mess.
Open that page in the editor and do the same procedure with that page to see if wordpress will fix the issue. I copied all your code out and into my test blog and wordpress corrected it for me.

When you say open in editor, it is just the edit page correct? I’ve updated the page repeatedly, and nothing is changing. I should also note that this just happened when I logged in one day, everything had been perfectly fine & centered before that. Also, when I set the static pg to different page, it does the same thing of shifting everything to the left.
I don’t get it!

Contact staff to see if they can figure it out. The code you have in that page is a nightmare. If I make a test page and set that as the static front page with your code, it is messed up. However, if I do not have that page set as a static front page it is fine with no problems.
Staff might have messed with DePo CSS or theme files doing an update which broke it.

Also, your main page, no matter how messy the code is, passes the XHTML validation test at W3C, so even though it is messy, it isn’t errors that are causing the issue.
-
Actually I was wrong since you had changed the static front page on me inbetween.
Your “about page you were using has 44 errors in it, but I don’t think that is causing the issue.

I contacted them also with a link to my test blog that is clean as far as XHTML errors to show them the problem happens even with just straight text on a static front page in depo.

Thanks for contacting support. :) The DePo Masthead theme has been fixed and static front pages should be working properly now.

thanks so much! they fixed it for me =)
one more thing that you may be able to help with…can I reduce the size of the header? -
