design and hosting query – godaddy.com and wordpress

    Hi,

    I have three queries:

    1. So I was able to figure how to redirect the wordpress site to the custom domain I registered through godaddy.com. Now its just to upload the design that was created for the “coming soon” page which has been difficult since I can’t crop the full image of my design jpg file to fit the page specs of wordpress. Is this something the wordpress team can help with?

    2. when I try to log unto my site it brings me to the godaddy.com page instead of my website. I appears godaddy.com is making me select different hosting options in order to design and receive hosting for the site. However, from what a godaddy.com rep told me earlier I’m receiving my hosting through wordpress and I assumed there would be functions through wordpress that would allow me to upload the design graphic that was created for the site so don’t understand why or if I need to pay for additional hosting through godaddy.com.

    3. Also, I think I may have paid to create a custom domain through godaddy.com when I may not have needed to if in fact I could have just done it through wordpress at a lower cost. Is this something you can confirm?

If you have any knowledge on how the process works would you mind explaining it to me so I could understand what my next steps should be? Much appreciated.

If you want hosting at WordPress.COM with a Godaddy registered custom name – please see your answer here: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/i-need-my-name-server?replies=1

    3) Once you have purchased a custom domain name outside of WordPress.COM you can’t easily register the name here without risking losing the name – but the price difference is small

Once domain mapping is working properly things will get easier – you should be able to work in the main dashboard of

    /tfnbs.wordpress.com/

you should be able to go to the below link while logged in here and that should let you edit things while you wait for the domain mapping to settle down

    https://tfnbs.wordpress.com/wp-admin/index.php

Once the name servers are updated it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet – access to your site will be erratic during that time
