Design Change for Edit Posts

I noticed that the design for editing posts have been changed. Instead of the post settings being on the left side, it’s now on the right side. I find that to be irritating, as I was used to having the post settings be on the left side. Can you put it back on the left side?

Yes that’s right, the sidebar has moved to the right.
In the old editor, the left sidebar had a mix of navigation, drafts and post settings, whereas in the rest of the WordPress.com interface the left side is strictly for navigation.
By moving the sidebar to the right we give prominence to the content, following reading direction, and by containing only settings it clarifies its use. The ability to turn it off it also provide a simpler and more immersive writing experience. The basic site navigation is still there in the top left of the new document toolbar.

Ahh, I missed this when I was searching for my own issue. I made a similar unpleasant discovery this morning. I don’t mind the move of the sidebar all that much, except it seems like an unnecessary change. The bigger issue for me, and it’s proving extremely frustrating, is that my post toolbar, with my text formatting tools, media add button, etc., no longer follows as I scroll down my post.
I hope there is a way to fix that, because if I want to drop in a picture, italicize something, or add a link, I have to scroll all the way back up to the top of my post, which is really annoying and impractical.

@bentongrey, that’s unfortunate. Which browser are you using? Is the sidebar open or closed? Thanks.

I’m using Firefox, but I saw the same thing in Edge. It is the same with the sidebar open and closed.

@bentongrey You uncovered a bug! And it should be fixed now. Thanks so much for reporting it, and sorry about that, to you as well @sleepiergirl. The formatting toolbar should follow you along down the page now again.
