design first then payment

    Hi,
    I am new to WP and I am trying to design the website first in WP and then, if I am happy with the result, proceed to transfer my current domain which is somewhere else and actively functioning. WP is asking me to transfer my domain into WP without having the opportunity to design it first. It does not make any sense to me….and WP is not letting me continue unless I choose a domain or transfer it from somewhere else…huge mistake…I am not going to buy anything until I know if WP is for me or not…and it only gives me one template when all I really want is the capability to choose among a few of them that better fits my need….I need a responsive site…etc, etc…so far I am very disappointed in WP…Is there anything I am missing? thanks!

    Why not start with a free .blog or .wordpress.com address? https://wordpress.com/pricing/ You can always upgrade the site to a paid plan to map/transfer your domain at a later date.
