Design Own Theme

Works great; however, when I try to do that on my company website (which is hosted by Site Ground), it is not available. How do I get those nice options for a redesign of my site?

I just downloaded WordPress 6.4.2 and there is no sign of the “Design Your Own Theme” section among the themes in Appearance. And I can’t find any explanation anywhere. So, I feel for you!

Hello! Strange that it isn’t mentioned anywhere (that I could find) but the “Design Your Own Theme” app/utility as described in that Support guide is currently available only for websites hosted by WordPress.com.
During a previous webinar, the Happiness Engineer mentioned that if your site is using the open source WP software, you’d be able to create a design by using Block Patterns. The base theme used in that webinar was Creatio or Creatio 2 which you can download to use on your WP website. Hope that helps.

Currently the Design Your Own Theme tool is WordPress.com only (it relies on our hosting resources in order to function) so there is no way to install or use this tool on a self-hosted WordPress site.
If you wish you are welcome to migrate your site to our hosting, which would give you access: https://wordpress.com/plans/
Another option would be to create your theme here (using the free site option we offer) and then exporting your theme. To do that you can go to the Site Editor to edit your homepage template, then choosing this option in the sidebar:
