Design work without connecting my existing site

    I am needing help with designing, but I don’t want to mess up my existing site until I am happy. I want to have the work done so I can see it before I make the transfer of my existing domain name.

    Hi there! Just to check, you’re referring to http://jerseyfreebird.wordpress.com/ ?

    If so, it’s totally fine to work on http://jerseyfreebird.wordpress.com/ without attaching a different domain name to it, and only connecting/transferring your domain when you’re ready.

    Would you like to tell us a little more about what the site will be? That way we can possibly help point you in the right direction!

    I clicked the Start Now for the Built By WordPress, but it wanted me to choose my domain right away. I am not ready to transfer my domain to you just yet. I need the transfer to be seamless once the new site is complete, but you want to do it right away.

    I need the new site to be as it is now, but with better themes and true navigation as it is now. Please peruse all of the pages on my site to see how many sub-pages there are and what my site is about. I think the WordPress plan I am on now will suffice, but would appreciate your input. I am a one-man company and don’t have $50,000 to have a site created.

    All of the themes I have perused here are still a little more geared toward BLOGS, in my opinion, and I need a better scope of the site process. I have my banks coding for processing payments and so on, so I will need that information designed as well..

    Hi there,

    We are able to start the site on a private “wordpress.com” URL that is set to “coming soon” mode so only you (as admin) would be able to access it. The domain can be moved when you feel the new site is ready to launch, at which point it would replace the old site, and be what you see if you visit slotcarhaven.com 

    I just tried the first few steps of the “getting started” flow and did not see the requirement that you saw to pick a domain immediately, but we could steer you through it so that you do not need to choose that option.

    Our Built By WordPress Express service would be able to create you a new WordPress site (into which you can import your Weebly site pages) but the team is not able to provide a guided migration of the content on your behalf, and is not able to set up an exact copy of the current site.

    However, they would create a very professional looking site based on the info you supply, and it would be a fine home into which to move the content that you have on Weebly.

    I can definitely appreciate that. Unfortunately the ecommerce functionality we have built in is basic and might not be a replacement for what you use now since it does not include an integrated shopping cart feature.

    We use a drag and drop layout system (using text and image “blocks”) so most of our themes are best thought of as a starting point for pretty much any site you might need. I think it may help in this case to see some of the sites the Express team have created, which lean much more strongly toward business sites.

Additionally the team set up a couple of demo sites that are not actual client sites, but a good example of the kinds of sites they can create.
