designing site with view to changing domain name.

    I want to design a site for somebody who already has a (lousy!) site with a domain name that they will want to keep. Can I design a new site completely and then move over their domain name at the end without too much trouble?

    You could do. It depends on your definition of “too much trouble”. Where does the domain currently reside? Will you be buiding a free site here at WordPress.com and then upgrading it to a paid plan to connect/transfer the domain? Will you be building the site under your account and then transferring ownership of the site? Does the “somebody” already have an account here at WordPress.com? I’d think it would be easier to get the “somebody” to have initial ownership of site via their email credentials if only for future payments that would be required and for them to then share the log in details with you if you are the one who will be doing the site-building.
