Designing website without hosting yet

  I will be transferring my site from Squarespace to WPX and using WordPress to develop the website. How do I sign up and start designing my new site without transferring it yet

  I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

  ???? You’re posting into the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. If you don’t intend building a site here then you’ll need to reach out to WPX.

  I guess I wasn’t clear enough in my post.
  What I want to do is move my current site from Squarespace to WPX, but work on a new site using WordPress. However, when I try to sign up, WordPress wants connect my domain or transfer a domain, but I am not ready to do that until my new site on WordPress is complete. Is there a work around to only design the site for now and then connect the domain when the site is finished.
  When I go through the steps to sign up with WordPress, they want you to choose a domain first.

  I guess I wasn’t clear either. This is the host WordPress.com. You say you wish to use the host WPX which is somewhere else entirely.

  It seems you are attempting to sign up for a site here at the host WordPress.com when you need to log in to an account over there at WPX and ask them how you build a site with the wordpress software there.
  (Although in my personal opinion I prefer it here. Read through the link posted earlier).
