Desire to migrate site to wordpress.com
-
Hello there,
I am self hosting my site at the moment, but wish to move my content to a .wordpress.com. Right now it is thegetonupblog.com, but I want to change it to thegetonupblog.wordpress.com Is there a way I can migrate my site’s articles to this? And if so what is the easiest and fastest way?
Kind regards,
Sean GoodmanP.S. I have jetpack installed, which is why I am confused as to how I can do this.

Hi Sean,
You can migrate your content, yes. First, go to WP-Admin ->Tools ->Export in your self-hosted site and create an export file from there.
Next go to My Site ->Settings ->Import on your WordPress.com site, and you can import the file there.
Make sure your self-hosted site remains online and connected to your domain until the import finishes and all the media files are transferred across – media files might still be transferring for some time after the import file finishes importing, so check the library on the .com site to make sure all your media is here before disconnecting the self-hosted site.
