Desktop App asking to proceed in External Browser
-
I just updated my WordPress Windows app to version 6.9.0 and now when I want to edit a post, a window pops up asking me to confirm opening it the browser, saying an installed plugin prevents me from using the desktop app… but it doesn’t say which so I can uninstall it.

Hi there,
Please note that the WordPress app does not include the classic editor (it is able to use the block editor only) so if you have installed the classic editor plugin on your site, you will be redirected to your browser any time you try to create a new page or blog post (or edit an existing one) as that cannot take place within the app anymore.
If you wish, you can disable the Classic Editor plugin, and this will allow you to stay within the WordPress app instead of being redirected to your browser.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

I don’t see any plugins active on my website… I guess I’ll have to unisntall this updated version and go back to 6.0.0…

What is the URL of the site you are trying to edit? https://codexanathema.com/ yes?
Because that site is connected to us via the Jetpack plugin (even though it is not a site “hosted” on WordPress.com) I am able to see the plugins you have installed on that site.
You can disable the Classic Editor plugin here: https://codexanathema.com/wp-admin/plugins.php

Hi, Jerry, thanks for trying to help.
When I get into the Plugin section using the link you shared I can only see there are no plugins active. Anyway, I kinda like the Classic Editor, so I’ll stick to it and just keep using the desktop app 6.0.0 version.
Thank you for such a quick response!

Hmm, I see some Jetpack connection issues on that site, so it might be a good idea to fix this to be sure the site works correctly in the app.
You can reach out directly to Jetpack’s support via https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/jetpack/.
