Desktop App Continues In Background After Closing
-
When I close the WordPress.com Ver 6.0.1 desktop app it remains running as a background process in Windows 10.
Looking at Task Manager I can see 7 processes running.
Because of this if I try to start the WordPress.com Desktop app again it does not run.
The only way to resolve the problem is to shut down the background processes or reboot the PC
Any help would be appreciated

Hi @arkitekt878, that is odd. Has that always happened, or is this a recent development for you? And, if it’s recent, was it after any kind of software update?
For what it’s worth, it may be best to reach out to app support directly, since that will send more info about your setup.

I’m not sure when it happened. I only normally use it for writing one post and then I close it down.
But since I’ve been able to get out and about now I wrote one post, closed it down and then later that day I decided to write another post for scheduling. That’s when I found the problem. I have tested and tested since then and it definitely continues running as a background process after I close the desktop app.
There is no support for the desktop version. There are teams for IOS and Android and the app page says reach out to wordpress.com support for the desktop version. That’s why I raised it here.

Hi there,
We have released a new version today (6.0.2). Please update and see if the issue is resolved.

It did not resolve the problem. But on further investigation I have found that I must actual go FILE, QUIT to close the app down.
Just hitting the X top right minimises the app to the system tray; so when I try to use the app again, by clicking on the icon on the taskbar, it will not run.
I have to select the icon in the tray.
