Desktop app not working on Mac

  I have been happily using the Mac version of the WordPress app for desktop for years, as I find it a very convenient and intuitive way to write. Recently however, the app updated to WordPress.com so it is literally just the same backend interface I have on my browser. I prefer using the app to write because I specifically don’t want to use the browser version and I would like to reinstall an older version if that is possible.

  I do use the Classic Editor plugin, and the app seemed to not be working with that before this change. I am currently using Mac Sierra.

  Hi there,

  You can still use the Classic editor through the app by switching the Dashboard Appearance to the classic WordPress look. Here’s how to do that:

  Thanks! But the odd thing is that option does not seem to appear in my account settings.

  Ah, sorry, I think we misunderstood.

  Currently the app is not compatible with the Classic Editor. We are working on this, but don’t have a guarantee of what that will happen.

  Overall, we recommend using the new editor.

  Thanks for your help.

  This is really unfortunate. WordPress offers a wonderful suite of tools and I had a great workflow for it which all these updates have deleted. No one on my staff likes the blocks interface – it is a very different way of writing which I’m sure is fine for some people, but not all.

  Is there anyway to download the old version of the app? I see you can do it for the Windows version.
