Desktop vs. Non-Desktop WordPress Hosting?!

  So apparently you can download wordpress to your computer vs. using the online version of wordpress. I am talking about the free version.

  What are the main differences between the two if any? And do you need to purchase your own hosting in order to use the desktop version of the site? If not, what’s the point of using the desktop version?

  The desk top version of WordPress.ORG software is free of charge and if you use it then the correct support forum for local installs of WordPress.ORG software is here http://wordpress.org/support/

  WordPress.ORG and WordPress. COM are completely separate.
