Desperate for help DIRECTLY from WordPress

  • Unknown's avatar

I have been trying desperately all day to get help from WordPress. But there seems to be no way to get a hold of them. Does anyone know if it’s possible to email them or if they have some kind of chat? Thanks a million!

  • Hi there! You’ve reached a form of WordPress help. However, I don’t see any sites on your WordPress.com account.

Do you already have an existing WordPress website and need help with it? If you do, what is the URL of your site and what is it you are needing help with?

If you don’t have a WordPress website and are needing help getting one started, let us know.

Thanks Dean, it’s true that I don’t have any sites with WordPress at this time, but I have had in the past. And I still have a domain registered with you. And this is one of the issues. I am trying to get that domain transfered. However, despite all my efforts I cannot seem to get this process started. I need to change my name servers. Can you please provide me a way to do that?

Another question I have has to do with a WordPress charge from my account, but I was hoping to not speak about that in this open forum. A simple email conversation would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    1. What is the URL of your site?
    2. You can check charges made by wordpress.com at https://wpchrg.wordpress.com/

That site is under a different account. You’ll need to log into that to manage your domain. A Whois shows

    louisherrey.com
    Registrar Info
    NameAutomattic Inc.
    Name Servers
    ns1.wordpress.com
    ns2.wordpress.com

which indicates the domain is registered here and the site is hosted here but the site itself says “Powered by Squarespace”. Did you import site content from there to WordPress.com or do you have some redirect going on?

  • That domain is indeed registered to a different WordPress.com account here, not the one you’re currently logged in to.

If you do not recall the password for the correct account, we have some options for you at https://wordpress.com/support/account-recovery/

Hey all, apparently the original poster posted about this first at https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/cant-find-my-login/#post-3668560 which was tagged with “duplicate” but not “modlook”. I’ve gone ahead and closed that thread.

macmanx, I hav tried the options to recover, but none of them work. I am asked to provide different codes to prove my ownership, located on purchases etc. But I don’t have those. It was simply so long ago that I got the website. Plus the fact that that it was connected to to and old email.

louisherrey.com is now powered by Squarespace, yes, but when I log on I’m not provided with the option to change the name servers to wix which is what I am trying to attempt. Squarespace refers to WordPress to do this, but since I can’t find a way to log on to WordPress, I am stuck.

At the same time I am getting charged over 100 dollars from WordPress, with no receipt, with no explanation of what the charge is for. Perhaps that information was shared to an old email I had connected to herrey.wordpress.com, I don’t know. It’s all very confusing, and VERY frustrating, since I can’t GET to that log in.

This is why I so desperately needed to communicate with you via phone or email, because none of this can be solved through topics on your open forums. It is certainly more of a private matter.

  • Hi there,

Since this was a paid upgrade, you can provide us with the transaction ID as proof of ownership so we can restore access to the account that owns that domain.

Follow these instructions to retrieve that transaction ID from your card statement:

    View Your Billing History

and then send it to us through this form:

    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery

Please DO NOT POST any transaction details in this public forum. Use the form I linked above.

I found a transaction code, but as I filled it in to the form it wasn’t accepted. It states “The receipt does not appear to be valid”.

I can’t do more than follow the instructions. There is only one line om my bank statement. It reads: [redacted] (5 March). I cannot fill in another digit combination, because this is all you send me on my statement, yet you won’t accept the form that I try to send in.

I am trying my very best not to get upset about all of this. There has got to be a way to solve it all! Would it be too much to ask that we have an private email conversation or better yet a phone call to quickly solve this. (I contacted WIX about another issue and they called me up right away). It shouldn’t be this hard. I have been a paying customer to WordPress for many years. My business is suffering, and really need help get this done with.

I don’t care so much about the (around) 110 dollars that was charged from me, but I really need access to my domain so I can make a transfer.

  • Hey there,

If you are unable to fill out the form, please contact our Account Recovery Team directly at passwordhelp@wordpress.com and they will be able to assist you.

Please visit our https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/ support page for more information on recovering your account.

I removed the transaction ID from your post since this is a public thread.

    Thanks,
