Desperate need of help after WP gave me terrible advice
-
Hi, I’m really desperate to sort out an issue that WP has created that I cannot resolve. I contacted them about adding a new email address to my account and they offered me unsolicited advice about deleting my A record because it would ‘speed up my site’. Here’s the screengrab they sent me about what to do: https://d.pr/i/BTZ7iP. I naively followed their instructions and it’s taken the site down and I cannot log in to WP or contact anyone. We’re a small not for profit and have been royally shafted by this terrible advice from their team. That I pay for a service with no phone support and no live chat support (my account now won’t connect to anything) shocks me. Can anyone help, I’m really desperate now.

Hello Kevin,
That’s definitely not a good experience. Deleting that one A record shouldn’t have caused an issue with the domain. When I checked it, the WordPress.com A records were showing as having been deleted as well, but I’ve restored those and returned full functionality to your site.
When you have a moment, please check your email to verify your domain contact information changes. I’ve just resent that, and you might also want to check your spam folder if you don’t see it.
Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you run into any other issues!
