Despite being Admin of my site, I can’t pay my bill!

    When I click on the billing information for my site, I see the following error message:

    This product was purchased by a different WordPress.com account. To manage this product, log in to that account or contact the account owner.

    Further, auto-renew is on but no payment method has been entered. A year ago, I set up this site via a team of 3 people for our non-profit. We all shared Administrative roles for the website. Today, the member of the team that actually set up the original payment on his account is no longer with our company and is not responding to my attempts to communicate with him.
    My question: How can I take over the billing payment going forward if I wasn’t the person that made the original payment?

  • Hi there,

    Because billing info is rather sensitive, to manage billing for upgrades you must be logged in under the account that made the purchase. Upgrades cannot be managed by other admins on the site.

    If I can ask, what site is this related to? I see you participate in a few sites that have upgrades by a few different people, so not sure which site you are needing help with. Thanks for clarifying!

    I also don’t wish to upgrade as I am content with our current plan. I just wish to pay the bill on the 24th and set up auto payment going forward.

  • It is possible to do that, but you must be logged in under the correct account. Is it the case that this site was set up by another admin, who purchased the upgrade under their account?

    Because billing info is sensitive and private, only the person who “owns” the upgrade can renew it… it is not accessible to other admins on the site. Please ask your other site admins to log in and then check here: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/

    If they are the individual that originally purchased the upgrade, they will see the option to renew on that page.

    The issue is that the original admin whom set up the account is no longer with our organization and unresponsive to attempts to contact them.

  • As staff-totoro explained to you, the person that purchased the plan is still the owner of it and we cannot transfer ownership without their permission.

    Please try reaching out to them again as this is the only way to get that plan transferred to your account.
