My daughter started a wordpress account with my email but could never navigate the site so it has been idle for many months as she has gone on to an easier blog host.

I have a blog and cannot comment on other blogs with my blog name on wordpress hosted blogs. I am really upset and would like to destroy that account seeing as I want readers to be routed back to my blog, not an idle wordpress account.

    PLEASE HELP!!!!!

WordPress.com accounts cannot be deleted. However, there’s nothing preventing you from designating your primary blog and linking it your existing username. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Primary Blog‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

I have a blog and cannot comment on other blogs with my blog name on wordpress hosted blogs.

What I posted above applies if the blog you have now is a free hosted WordPress.com blog that you registered under the username you are currently using. When we register an account we provide and email address which becomes our unique identifier at WordPress.com. All blogs we register a WordPress.com blog while we are logged into WordPress.com are registered under that username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/email-address/

So when you say “I have a blog” do you mean that you have free hosted WordPress.com blog registered under the WordPress.com username account that you are using to post here with or or not?

It sounds like her daughter may have created a separate username, but provided the same email address. I don’t know how much that would interconnect the accounts, but the same Gravatar image would be shown at least. I wonder if her option to make her blog primary exists even though her account only has one blog (her daughter’s account has her daughter’s idle blog).

In any case, I recommend she NOT delete the daughter’s blog if at all possible, as she may some day want to come back and use it. Deletion is forever permanent and unrecoverable. But changing the email address on the daughter’s account might be a good step (even if it is not disclosed to her what it is, for now).
