Details about the Header image in posts – Forever theme

I use the Forever theme for my Wedding & Travel photography blog. It provides a cool feature of a slideshow on the home page by featuring any blog which has a ‘featured image’ and is identified as a ‘sticky’ post.

My query is regarding the dimensions of the image to be used as the Featured image. Related articles on WP and in various forums proudly declare the size as: “it should be 888 pixels wide”. Considering that the size of this image is not the regular 3:2 or 4:3 ratio (as is evident by physically looking at the image window in sample blogs of this theme), this information regarding the width of the image is utterly useless. What anyone would want to know is: What the he** is the height of the image to be used here? Otherwise all subjects end up getting cut at the head and legs.

Also, isn’t there a way to use a regular sized image (of any size) and then WP allows the user to crop the image to the required size to fit into the window of the ‘featured image’, similar to how the ‘header image’ of a post can be adjusted?

(Apologies for the poor tone of the query, but WP is full of instances where significantly minor but extremely relevant information is not available, having a direct impact on the quality of a blog, which makes it very irritating & frustrating)

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
