Determine acceptable featured image size

I am using the default theme supplied by WordPress when I created the blog. I am trying to use a featured image but it is being cropped. How can I find the acceptable size so I can edit the image to fit correctly.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi jgossage,

The recommended featured image size for the Independent Publisher 2 theme is 1400px wide by 600px high. There are more listed in the “Quick Specs” section of the theme documentation:

    https://wordpress.com/theme/independent-publisher-2

    I hope this helps.

This is obviously not true. I made my own header image of EXACTLY 1440×600, but the theme cut off nearly half of it. Even when cropping the image in my own editor down to 1200×500, it still chops it down by about 75%. (As a side note, why is the ugliest and apparantly the most difficult theme the default?)

  • robatimari – Could you grab a screen shot of what you’re seeing? Also, let me know which browser your working form and the version number. We can compare it to what we are seeing as well, try to replicate, and report as a bug if applicable. Thanks.
