dialogue box won’t allow me to exit

    When I go to view the edit page a dialogue box asking me to ‘choose a post type appears in the top left corner and covers elements in the side menu. Even once I select a post type and shortcut to embed the window doesn’t close and the ‘need help’ and exit functions don’t work. Is there a fix or is this a normal function of wordpress? Thanks
