Did .com meant to do .org please help!

    Hi there- if anyone could help I would appreciate it a ton! I have tried to research the forums for an answer myself but seem to be getting conflicting information. I will try to make this post thorough so you can understand what I mean.

    Problem: I started wordpress.com yesterday, and purchased a domain, signed up for an email address, and got google apps. I will paste the receipt at the bottom of the post below. Once I started trying to create the website I realize I made a big mistake and should have done wordpress.org. In researching how to switch over I keep reading that since I just registered the domain, I can’t switch it over for 60 days? I don’t mind creating a new domain if needed, I just want to resolve this and get going on wordpress.org as quickly as I can. I had meant to sign up for premium but somehow I think I ended up with a one month trial of the free plan, at least that is what wordpress is telling me is my current plan. That doesn’t matter though since I just want to get wordpress.org so I can build a decent site, and use the instructional how to videos found on youtube.

    Also, what will switching over mean for the email address I created? I am not even sure what to do with that address or how to use it, since after I created it it seemed to slip away into oblivion and I don’t know where on the site to go for it. Again, doesn’t neccesarily matter if I need a new one for .org.

    If you could let me know how to proceed that would be wonderful!

    Hi there!

    You are correct in that you can not transfer the domain until it has been registered for 60 days. However, you can edit the name servers and have the domain to point to your new host. You can read more on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/change-name-servers/

    As for the email address, if you set it up using Google Apps, there are a few modifications to the DNS that will need to be made for that to work correctly. You can read more on that here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/add-email/add-email-through-google-apps/. However, if you are going to point the domain to a new service provider, you will need to make those modifications at your new service provider instead of editing the domain here.
