Did I delete "Home" from my menu bar?
-
I have made several business websites for friends, all with WordPress.
In the menu bar there is a “Home”
When I display a static page for the front page, I do it in the “Home” page & do not need to make another title. The front page displays clean. If someone is navigating the site, and they want to get back to the Home Page, they just click on “Home” in the menu bar.
I seem to have no “Home”. My theme is “Piano Black”. When I look at the Demo Template, I see a “Home” on the menu bar.
Now it says #4248(no title) where “Home”should be.
I may have done something stupid when I was just learning.
my site is: http://resamcconaghy.com/
Can you help me?
Do I need to activate another theme, then activate “Piano Black again?
Sincerely,

Hi Resa,
It appears you accidentally erased the “Home” title while revising the page yesterday:

No need to change your theme at all, just edit your page here:
https://resamcconaghy.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4248&action=edit
Give it the title “Home,” then click the blue “Update” button.

Thank you, Alex!
I have done that, however, then I actually see the word HOME on the page. I want a clean page for my front page, with no big white HOME title on the left.
Here is an example of a clean front page from a site I made for my niece. There is no HOME on the left of the actual page, only in the menu bar.

Perhaps my theme doesn’t support this?
I dislike the big white Home on my opening page, so have gone back to “no title”
I thank you very much for any other advice!

Hi Resa,
Ah, I understand what you mean. Right now you’re using the automated menu, and we’ll just need to set up your blog with a Custom Menu so you can make sure “Home” is not included.
- Open up your Custom Menu settings here:
- In the “Pages” selection on the left, choose all the pages you want included in the menu, then click “Add to Menu”. (Screenshot)
- Make sure not to include “#4248 (no title).” :)
- Under “Menu Settings” select the “Primary Navigation” location, but do not check the “Auto add pages” option.
- Save the menu.
Refresh the page and let me know if that’s better. :)

Amazing!!! Thank you, Alex!
My Home Page look gorgeous!I have been challenged by the Menu thing from day one.
Your instructions were succinct enough that once I saw what was happening, I managed to make all my Pages look gorgeous, too. My site looks incredibly professional.I’m very happy, and send some of it over to you and all at WordPress!
Sincerely,
